You measure at the process and have the analysis before you are back at your desk
Capture cycle times and process durations with a professional digital stopwatch designed for Lean practitioners. Replace manual time studies with tap-to-record simplicity and see the shortest, the longest, and the average lap right away, all on your phone or tablet, even offline. You time the individual steps within a cycle with a process step recording, available from the Operator version.
Benefits
Instant Cycle Time Analysis
Record multiple cycles with a single tap each and see the shortest, the longest, and the average lap right away. No more manual spreadsheet entry. Your data is analyzed the moment you capture it.
Works Offline on the Shop Floor
LeanShift works without internet, so you can record times in the warehouse, on the production line, or anywhere WiFi does not reach.
Structured Time Study Templates
From the Operator version, pre-built templates for production, administration, IT, and general tasks fill in the steps of a process step recording. When everyone starts from the same template, everyone measures the same steps, and the results stay comparable.
Historical Data and Trend Tracking
From the Operator version, you save every measurement as a recording with its date. Compare it with earlier recordings to see how cycle times develop over weeks and months, and use the data to set evidence-based improvement targets.
How It Works
Open the Stopwatch
Open the stopwatch from the menu. It starts on the Simple tab.
Start Measuring
Tap the start button, then tap again at the end of each cycle. The stopwatch shows each lap time and the running total to a hundredth of a second.
Review Automatic Analysis
After you measure, LeanShift shows the average, the shortest and the longest cycle automatically, along with the process cost per cycle and the savings potential.
Save and Compare
From the Operator version, you save each measurement as a recording that stays on your device and compare it with earlier recordings.
Use Cases
- -Time studies for cycle time optimization on production lines
- -Timing complete changeovers as the baseline for a SMED workshop
- -Service process timing for customer wait time reduction
- -Seeing the fastest and slowest cycle during a production ramp-up
- -Timing cleaning routines as a basis for standardizing them
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the stopwatch work without an internet connection?
Yes. LeanShift is a Progressive Web App (PWA) that works fully offline. All data stays on your device. You can run complete time studies in areas with no WiFi or cellular coverage.
Can I export my time study data?
Yes, already in the Basic version. Once you pause the stopwatch, you export your laps as a PDF report, an Excel sheet, or a file for another system. From the Operator version, you export saved recordings the same way.
How accurate is the digital stopwatch?
The stopwatch uses your device's high-resolution timer and shows times to a hundredth of a second. For typical industrial time studies where human reaction time is the limiting factor, this is more than sufficient.
