You walk into the investment meeting with numbers you can back up
Calculate the return on investment for process improvements, equipment purchases, and digitalization projects. Enter your cost items and savings, and LeanShift calculates the payback period in months and the ROI as a percentage.
Benefits
Clear Payback Calculation
Enter your cost items and savings, and the calculator shows the payback period in months, measured against your target payback period.
ROI and Net Savings
The ROI as a percentage sets one year of savings, minus the investment, against the investment. Next to it, the calculator shows the net savings after one year in euros.
Saved Scenarios
Save each calculation under its own name as a scenario and load it again later, for example an optimistic and a cautious estimate of the savings.
Connected to Real Process Data
Link a recording, and LeanShift adds the gap between the average and the fastest step times to your annual savings, converted into euros.
How It Works
Define the Investment
Add one line per cost item with a description and an amount, such as equipment, implementation, or training.
Estimate Savings
LeanShift calculates personnel savings from the reduction in employees between the current and the target condition, multiplied by your personnel cost per employee. You enter any additional annual savings yourself.
Set a Target Payback Period
Enter the number of months after which the measure should have paid for itself. The calculator measures the payback period against it and derives the budget from it.
Review Results and Scenarios
See total investment, payback period, net savings after one year, and ROI at a glance. Save the calculation as a scenario to load it again later.
Use Cases
- -Justifying equipment purchases with a payback and ROI calculation
- -Saving alternative investments as separate scenarios and checking the payback of each
- -Building business cases for digitalization projects
- -Recalculating the payback after implementation, with the actual figures entered as a new scenario
- -Deriving the budget for a measure from the target payback period
Frequently Asked Questions
What financial metrics does the calculator provide?
Total investment, total savings per year, payback period in months, net savings after one year, and ROI as a percentage. From your target payback period, it also calculates the total budget and the remaining budget.
Can I use real process data in my ROI calculations?
Yes, from a linked recording. LeanShift takes the gap between the average and the fastest step times, converts it into euros per year using your demand, working time, and personnel costs, and adds it to your savings as time optimization.
Is this suitable for small improvement projects or only large capital investments?
It works for both. The calculation is the same for a 500-euro workstation redesign and a 500,000-euro line upgrade, and you add as many cost items as the measure needs.
